To Revival Fires International,

I am writing this letter to express in some small way my appreciation for the Revival Fires International Ministry and their efforts to distribute Bibles to every Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Airman and Coast Guardsman who is in harm’s way.  In particular, I am personally appreciative of these efforts because I have seen first hand the fruits of their labors.

From 2002 to 2004 I served as a Chaplain in the 2nd Marine Division, specifically serving as the Command Chaplain for the 2nd Recon Battalion, Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, and 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines – eventually being selected by the Commanding General to serve as his Deputy Division Chaplain.  While in this capacity, I was tasked by the Commanding General, on relatively short notice, (within 48 hours), to replace a Chaplain in Kuwait, whose unit was preparing for combat operations in Iraq.  As a result of these short-fused unforeseen changes, I was left with few religious supplies, such as Bibles, to accomplish the mission.

This is where, I believe, Revival Fires International truly became a genuine hero in the War on Terror.  Not knowing where I was going to get a sufficient number of God’s Word for my men, I began to inquire from others about the possibility of securing Bibles.  The immediate response I received was that Revival Fires International had provided literally thousands of copies of the Word of God for the U.S. Military.  Needless to say, I could not pass them out fast enough.

It is amazing to see when one is faced with their own mortality how even the non-religious turn to the Word of God and prayer to find hope in their time of need.  I saw hardened men literally devouring these small Bibles as if it were the last sustenance known to mankind!

As a result of these Bibles being distributed and the power of the Word of God, I saw more than 60 combat-hardened men come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  In fact, I had the privilege of baptizing them in the Tigris River on Easter Sunday.

There is not a week that goes by that one of these men does not contact me in one way or another to say thank you, not to me, but to God, for the power of God that has transformed their lives – a power that was revealed to them by the Word of God. For this, I will be eternally grateful to Revival Fires International as well as all those who made such generous contributions possible.  THANK YOU!

Every day our soldiers put their life on the line for us in Iraq and Afghanistan to stop this awful spread of international terrorism against the United States.  I believe the very least we can do is to make sure they all have Bibles!

I’m praying that you will partner with Revival Fires International in this vitally important, “BIBLES FOR OUR TROOPS” project.  We must help provide Bibles for our soldiers now serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.  WE MUST NOT LET THEM DOWN!

Our soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan should not be sent into battle without Bibles!
